In the recently completed elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) nominated 12 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to defend the nomination of Bola Tinubu as its presidential candidate.

In 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states, Tinubu received 8,794,726 votes, about two million more than his nearest challenger, former vice president and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar (PDP).

Peter Obi, the candidate for the Labour Party (LP), finished the contest with 6,101,533, placing second to Atiku with 6,984,520 votes. Both Atiku and Obi have declared their rejection of the election’s results and their intention to take it to court.

Yet, the opposing side claims it is ready to speak with the parties in court. The 13-person list, which includes 12 senior attorneys, was revealed by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, in a statement on Tuesday.

Legal legend Wole Olanipekun, who represents the ruling party as lead counsel before the Presidential Election Tribunal, is at the top of the list.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) announced that a group of highly skilled and knowledgeable attorneys would represent the Party before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

“The team consists of legal stalwarts with extensive experience in litigation, constitutional law, and election petition problems.

“Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, a prominent attorney who has successfully handled numerous high-profile election matters and other historic cases, is leading the legal team, which consists of twelve (12) Senior Advocates of Nigeria and the National Legal Adviser of the Party, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq, Esq.

Other people on the list include Muritala Abdulrasheed, Sam Ologunorisa, Rotimi Oguneso, Olabisi Soyebo, Gboyega Oyewole, Tajudeen Oladoja, Pius Akubo, Oluseye Opasanya, Suraju Saida, and Kazeem Adeniyi.

The group is “confident that the legal team has the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve the APC’s success in the Presidential Election Petition cases.”

It also exhorted party members to assist the team in defending the will and mandate of the people, and it asked all parties to conduct themselves during the legal process with the utmost professionalism and respect for the rule of law.
