The result dashed her hopes for an automatic qualification spot in the final.
Nigeria’s flagbearer for the Games, Amusan clocked a time of 12.55 seconds, leaving her to rely on a potential wildcard spot as one of the fastest losers to advance.
The reigning champion had secured her place in the semifinals on Wednesday with a strong performance, finishing first in her heat with a time of 12.49 seconds.
