At least 14 individuals have been killed and 60 injured  in Chernihiv, a city in Northern Ukraine, due to a Russian missile attack.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, reported that the assault, which targeted an eight-story building in a densely populated area, also left 60 people injured. The attack, involving three missiles, struck close to the city’s center.

The incident occurred shortly after reports emerged of a Ukrainian strike on a Russian military airfield in occupied Crimea. Klymenko mentioned that among the casualties were two children, and efforts by the police to search for additional victims amid the rubble were ongoing.

Responding to the attack, President Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted that such strikes could have been prevented if Ukraine had access to adequate air defense equipment. He reiterated his call to Western allies for support.

Chernihiv is located just 100km (60 miles) from the Russian border.
