We’ve spent N1Billion in Oyo to fight scourge- Prof. Temitope Alonge

Oyo state government has spent about N1 billion to fight against the dreaded coronavirus disease.

The acting chairman, Oyo state COVID-19 Taskforce, Prof. Temitope Alonge, disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing at the Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo, Ibadan.

The chairman explained that about N200m had been expended on the centre to make it operational from Monday, April 6, 2020. He also added that N800m had been used on the intensive care and high dependency units and testing kits across the isolation centres in the state.

Alonge said that about 100 health workers would undergo extensive training from today, April 4, 2020, to effectively fight against the pandemic in Oyo.

He, however, maintained that contact tracing of about 140 persons was ongoing and that the suspects would soon be reached and isolated.

The government has received close to N100 million from high spirited individuals in the fight against COVID-19.
