Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of actor John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has revealed the reasons behind the police invitation of the actor’s adopted daughter, Jasmine, and two sons, Daniel and Val.

Reports surfaced on Wednesday evening that Mr Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris, had ordered their arrest amid ongoing social media disputes regarding the signatory authority to the actor’s account.

Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, sharing the news on Instagram, alleged that Jasmine and Mr Ibu’s sons were detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos over accusations that Jasmine transferred N300 million from the ailing actor’s account.

“Jasmine and Ibu’s sons were arrested at Alagbon Police Station. They are detained there. Ibu’s wife alleged that Jasmine moved N300 million out of the account. Ibu’s wife allegedly wanted them to buy her new house from the money contributed so far for Ibu’s treatments. That’s why she arrested Jasmine. But investigation states that the money contributed isn’t even up to N300 million,” she wrote.

Confirming the situation, Chochoo stated in a phone interview on Thursday that all three individuals were invited by the police regarding Mr Ibu’s account. He clarified that Val is not involved as he is unaware of the ongoing events, having recently returned to the country.

Efforts to contact Stella Maris for comment were unsuccessful as she declined to provide a statement, saying, “Please, I do not want to say anything about it, please.”

As of the report filing, attempts to reach Jasmine were also unsuccessful.

Mr Ibu had recently sought public assistance due to a medical emergency, and he is recovering from multiple surgeries, including the amputation of one of his legs.
