The capital of Delta State, Asaba, has seen protests over the recently held presidential and National Assembly elections.
Youths in their hundreds can be seen chanting the name of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in a video that circulated on social media on Tuesday morning.
“This is happening live in Asaba right now,” the voice in the video announced. Whether people like it or not, Obi must be the president of Nigeria. Our vote right now
“The Asaba youths are protesting right now demanding that INEC should do the right (thing) and stop the ongoing rigging,” reads the video’s caption from the Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilization.
“Peaceful protest ongoing in Asaba,” tweeted Charles, who posted another video from the demonstration. By God’s grace, we will retake this country from them.
Police Public Relations Officer for the state, DSP Bright Edafe, responded to our correspondent by saying, “I don’t know whether we will call it a protest or not.
However, in order to monitor the situation and keep the peace, police officers have been dispatched to the area.
