President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of 70,000 Metric Tonnes of Grains from Nigeria’s National Strategic Grain Reserves, for distribution to poor and vulnerable persons in frontline #COVID19 States, as well as persons whose livelihoods will be affected by the Lockdowns.

It is a known fact that many in Nigeria subsist in the informal economy and with the lockdown preventing people from going to work, the government is taking proactive steps at ensuring many Nigerians .remain unruffled

“We are fully aware that such measures will cause much hardship and inconvenience to many citizens. But this is a matter of life and death,” said Buhari.

He promised, in his address on Monday, that the government would deploy relief materials, and would immediately disburse two months’ worth of welfare payments “for the most vulnerable in our society”.
