Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has called for a meeting with the heads of aviation agencies in the country to address the persistent safety concerns in the industry.

The scheduled meeting, set for Monday in Abuja, will involve discussions with key agencies such as the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Federal Airport Authority Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The minister intends to convene with them “to address recent accidents in the sector and subsequently inform the press about the outcomes of the discussions aimed at preventing such incidents.”

On Sunday, Flight NUA 0504 from Lagos to Abuja encountered a situation where Abuja-bound passengers were mistakenly taken to Asaba airport.

Upon landing in Asaba, the cabin crew incorrectly informed the passengers that they had reached Abuja airport, causing confusion.

The airline attributed the diversion to “poor weather” conditions.
