Supplementary Elections Will Be Held After Governors, State Assembly Elections – INEC.

After the governorship and state assembly elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission has stated that supplementary elections will be scheduled.

This information was released in a statement on Thursday that was signed by Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee.

Okoye stated, “The commission is aware that Declarations and Returns were not made in some Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies. The list of the affected constituencies is being compiled by the commission.

“After the Governorship and State Assembly elections, a date for the supplementary elections will be set.”

Okoye promised that the postponed elections in Enugu and Edo states would take place on March 11 along with the governorship and state assembly elections.

According to the statement, “The commission held its regular weekly meeting today, Thursday, 2nd March 2023, and discussed a number of topics, including the upcoming elections for the Enugu East Senatorial District, Esan Central/Esan West, and Igueben Federal Constituencies in Edo State, as well as the presidential and national assembly elections.

“The commission gives Nigerians its assurance that the governorship and state house of assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, March 11, 2023, will take place as planned and that all the processes and procedures leading up to the election are being completed.

“Furthermore, the commission will conduct the re-scheduled elections in Enugu and Edo states on Saturday 11th March 2023 along with the Governorship and State Assembly elections.”
